Celebrity autographed copy of The Sleepy Little Star captures $400.00 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
The Sleeoy Little Star, a children's book by author Kymberli W. Brady was one of the most sought after items at the recent 2003 Academy of Country Music Awards Online Celebrity Auction benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and brought in an impressive $400.00.
The auction began Thursday, May 22nd, following the Academy of Country Music Awards, broadcast on CBS-TV from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and continued through May 29th. Up for bid were personal, one-of-a-kind autographed items -- many used or worn by artists during rehearsals or the actual ACM Awards Show.
Over 80 signatures from country music's finest graced the inside front and back covers of the book, including Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Toby Keith, Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Alabama, Brooks & Dunn and many others, with special signatures from Wayne Newton, Karri Turner (Jag) and three American P.O.W.'s resqued from Iraq. Additionally, Brady was on hand to present each celebrity with their own copy as a personal thank you.
"It was a perfect opportunity to pay tribute to my father, the late Gene Weed," Brady said. "This was his show and he was the inspiration behind the Papa Moon character in the book. He loved children and this was a small way for me to help the kids at St. Jude while keeping his memory alive at the same time."
