SLEEPY JOINS CELEBRITY HEROES AT 15TH ANNUAL EVENT TO BENEFIT THE ELIZABETH GLASER PEDIATRIC AIDS FOUNDATION
Award winning children's book "The Sleepy Little Star" adds a unique "glow" to celebrity gift baskets
June 14, 2004: Kymberli Brady signed copies of her award winning children’s book The Sleepy Little Star to celebrities during the 15th Annual “Target A Time For Heroes” Celebrity Carnival and picnic at the Wadsworth Theatre on Sunday. More than 100 celebrity "heroes" from the worlds of film, television, fashion, music and extreme sports came together to raise more than $1.4 million for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
After volunteering their time, celebrities were treated to “thank you” gifts, including copies of The Sleepy Little Star, along with matching nightlights and puppets.
Touted as Hollywood’s biggest family event, the exciting celebrity carnival was entirely underwritten by the Target Corporation, guaranteeing that every dollar raised will be directed to funding critically-needed pediatric research.
Over 70 celebrities, including Jessica Alba, Tom Arnold, Kathy Bates, Meredith Baxter, Kimberly Brown, Michael Chiklis, Dan Cortese, Ted Danson, Kim Delaney, Rebecca DeMornay, Brendan Fraser, Harry Hamlin, Mel Harris, Tony Hawk, Bruce Jenner, Sharon Lawrence, George Lucas, Marlee Martin, Neal McDonough, Frankie Muniz, Jack Nicholson, Andrea Parker, Luke Perry, Jaime Pressly, Jeff Probst, Lisa Rinna, Luc Robitaille, Lex van den Berghe, Raquel Welch, and Al Yankovic signed a one-of-a-kind copy of The Sleepy Little Star, which will be auctioned off to raise additional funds for the foundation.
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation was formed in 1988, after Glaser and her husband Paul discovered that she, their daughter and their son had been HIV-infected. Although she died in 1994, her mission lives on through the foundation and events such as “A Time For Heroes,” creating a future of hope for children and families worldwide by eradicating pediatric AIDS, providing care and treatment to people with HIV/AIDS, and accelerating the discovery of new treatments for other serious and life-threatening pediatric illnesses.
“I am proud to help sponsor an event where so much more needs to be done in an effort to help children live longer, healthier lives,” said Brady. “It’s because of heroes like these that their lives continue to ‘glow’ brightly.”
